"Spills
are common during quad rugby"
|
This past weekend I traveled with the Portland Pounders (Portland's quad-rugby team) to Vancouver BC to photograph their participation in a 2 day tournament. Teams from all over North America were competing in this full contact sport. Players all have some loss of function in their arms and legs. They use custom-made wheelchairs to ram into each other at frightening speeds. For the most part the game is played much like the British game that is played on a field. Only there this game is played in a gym and there are only four per team on the court at any one time.
