This photo is a portrait of one of my co-workers back when I lived in Montana.   This was one of the first images I made with a 4X5 camera.  It's a format I've since grown to appreciate greatly.  Both for its ability to provide amazing detail and for its extreme flexibility with regards to selective focus.  Another benefit of using large format is the ability to correct perspectives--such as keeping lines parallel when photographing a building even though the top of the building is much farther away from the camera than the bottom.

Looking at photos like this remind me of the days when photography was all about exploration of and experimentation with the medium itself.
