The Rose Festival is something I look forward to every spring.  One of the big events is when the Navy docks on the river downtown and the sailors all come ashore for three day's leave.  You can see them all over Portland in their white suits--many of them in the company of young women.  I guess that it is true that there is just something about a man in uniform.
