A sure sign of spring here in Portland, is the re-opening of Saturday Market
after its winter hiatus. This weekend was the firs weekend of he the market's 2001
season. Saturday Market, despite its name is open on Saturdays and Sundays from
March through Christmas. It's mostly located under the the Burnside Bridge downtown,
though it does spill out into the Skidmore Fountain area along Front Ave. Today was
very cold and windy, and as you can see, the crowds were thin. During the Summer,
this market is the center of downtown activity on the weekends. Everything sold at
the market has to be a craft made by the seller. Many people craft their creations
