I haven't really decided how to go about it, but one of my goals this year is to capture the essence of St. John's, the community in which I live.  It is one of the most interesting neighborhoods in Portland.  Located at the north end of Portland   St John's is pretty much a small river town unto itself.  It has a definite small town feel, and flavor unspoiled by chain stores and suburban sprawl, though it does have a Starbucks. 

Ever since I've moved here I have been fascinated by the small business district which is the heart of the community. 

In the project I am developing I want to focus on the people--but these pictures, taken today, show some of the more interesting buildings of the area.
