When I was on Martha's Vineyard, I was there to create a virtual tour of the island--but I was running short on time and only had one afternoon.  I didn't bring a car to save money, and thought that I would just rent a moped while I was there to get around.  I didn't bring my coat as it was a warm day and I didn't want to carry anything I didn't have to.  I had a list of places to photograph.  Most were in the town the ferry went to.  But one was out on the far side of the island.  For some reason I only thought the island was about 10 miles across.  So I got on the moped and headed out I had 3 and a half hours.  I thought 30 minutes out to the location 30 minutes back, I would still have 2 and a half hours to photograph the high points in town.  It turned out to be 1 and a half hours each way on the moped.   The island was much larger than I had thought.  Boy was I wishing I had brought my coat when the wind was whipping through my thin shirt as I was flying at 30 mph on this moped that was only built to go 25.  My teeth chattered with the cold and tears were streaming down my face and blowing into my ears.  All my camera equipment was precariously bungy corded to the moped.  When I got out to Gay Head on the far side I couldn't even find the inn I had come out to photograph.  There seemed to be no such address as the one I was looking for.  But I was going to photograph something.  So I took some pictures of the beautiful cliffs at Gay head and the historic light house.  Then, as time was running short, I had to fly one and a half hours back on the moped with the engine screaming like a cat in pain.  I made it just in time to catch the ferry back to the Cape and see the sun set on the way.
