I don't know what this ride is called, but it seems to be a favorite with photographers.  There have been many great photos of this type of apparatus.   Maybe photographers like it because it's so intricate, and symmetrical, and asymmetrical at the same time.  Maybe it's because it looks like a huge mushroom or because people look so silly with their legs swinging free in the air.  Once when I was a kid I was riding one of these.  I saw a person on the other side turn their head and throw up all over the person behind them.  Afterwards I saw the men who ran the ride hosing off the seats.  I know it sounds a little like an urban legend, but I swear it happened.
