Jason E. Kaplan Photography: Bio
Based in Portland, Oregon, I have been working as a professional photographer for over 14 years. My work has been featured in many publications including The Oregonian, The Willamette Week, The Mercury News, Oregon Business, The Portland Monthly, Forbes Magazine and The Sentinel.
For the past two years teaching photography courses at the New Space for Photography has allowed me to share my love of photography.
I grew up on the East Coast, attended college at the New School of Social Research before moving to Missoula, Montana, where I attended MSU. I studied photography and constantly photographed the world around me. This is when I discovered my fascination with environmental portraiture and my love of photography began.
In 1995 I moved and discovered another love, Portland, Oregon, my new home. My studio is located in the historic St. Johns neighborhood.
In 2002 I married Summer, an accomplished graphic designer, and in 2004 our daughter, Anika was born. I continue to be amazed and inspired by her love and insight. Our household has expanded to include two cats, Iggy and Sunny, and 4 adorable and sometimes a bit noisy parakeets.
In my free time I like to take family trips to the coast or local parks, research old photography methods, and play music on my Sonic Six Moog synthesizer.
